The FASTForward Blog » Barriers to Intranet Use from Forrester

Forrester recently released a report on What’s Holding Back Your Intranet? They were nice to share a copy with me.  They found that 93% of employee respondents said they use an intranet or company portal (Forrester uses the terms interchangeably) at least weekly, and more than half reported daily use. However, they found that these intranets were mostly accessed for basic functions such as company directory, benefits information, and payroll. Access to collaborative tools, what some might called an enterprise 2.0 capability was ranked fourteenth.

Intranet Site Visits - August 31 & September 1, 2009

This week I attended an Intranet Site Visits event in Perth, Western Australia. These events are invaluable for Intranet Managers as it gives the opportunity to see inside other organisations and see their Intranets first hand. Because of the fact that Intranets are internal facing and seldom seen by outsiders I value events like this. It also reinforces the fact Intranet Managers and Teams everywhere share the same kind of problems and issues regardless of the size and success of their organisations.

At Fiat in Brazil, Vehicle Design Is No Longer By Fiat - Advertising Age - Global News

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Fiat is building a consumer-generated car in Brazil, using input gathered through social media to inform everything from the automobile's design to its marketing communications.

This is especially interesting given Fiat's internal change program. The Intranet Innovation Award platinum winner in 2007, used their “Avanti e Veloci” web portal to help turn around the fortunes of their whole business. You can see their video.
